Why are we moved by imperfection?
The artifacts displayed in museums were not originally sublime objects. Over time, however, history has infused them with a different kind of power. In contrast, the flawless products of today rarely move us with the same intensity. Despite having replaced nearly everything with machines, we find ourselves once again searching for traces of the human hand.
The Fake Ancient series begins from this question. It reconstructs ancient objects based on their archetypes, deliberately introducing exaggerated imperfections and forms that do not align with contemporary systems of objects. Through these anachronistic artifacts, the work examines what kinds of emotions they leave with us today.
